メヴァティ スタイルの音楽は、東ラージャスターン州に属するメヴ クムハール コミュニティによって独自の方法で解釈され、その結果バクタオンというジャンルが誕生しました。これは、母なる女神の賛美に捧げられた一種の信仰音楽であり、時には彼女の祝福や演奏を求め、信者たちが同性愛者として歌いながら夜通し続きます。もともと、ラート ジャガラン (一晩中行う信仰のパフォーマンス) の伝統が始まったのはこのジャンルでした。

アサル・ラティジョゴは文字通り、「元祖の夜長の祈りの音楽演奏」を意味します。演奏の中で、「地球」の誕生、進化、存在の根源と過程が歌われます。この伝統によれば、シヴァ神がこの惑星の創造者でした。

ソロ・パフォーマーによって歌われることもあるが、通常、バクタオンはリード・ボーカリストとバック・ボーカリストが合唱して敬意を払う雰囲気を際立たせるグループ演奏である。主に継続的な反復リズムが演奏を定義し、「シャクティ」または女性の存在原理が崇拝されますが、ガンパティやシブジーなどの他の神への言及も一般的です。歌の間には、タブラ、ジャーンジ、マンジーラが演奏されます。バクタオンの演奏におけるパーカッションは軽快であり、テンポも均一であり、音の奥深さと奥行きを生み出し、このジャンルの精神的な風味を高めています。
